This is Ichie Promise Oleka the man who tried to revive Prof. Pondei who slumped during the NASS probe of NCDC. He is from Umuokpara, Umuahia south local government area of Abia state.
These are his words!
Ever since my action in trying to resuscitate Prof. Pondei who slumped during the NASS probe of NDDC on July 21, 2020. My phone has been in daunted with calls of appreciation by those who saw my action as bravery, while some saw it as stage managed actions making mockery of it. While I do not want to joint issues with anybody on this; I am not a trained paramedic nor a doctor.
My action is borne out of passion after losing my friend and colleague two years ago because people around him could not give him CPR when he slumped. I saved my son last year and one of my daughters who had seizure through same way. If what I did even though not professionally done was able to yield result, why not appreciate God who gave me the boldness and wisdom to approach from back of the hall where I was, than been worried on the guy that was given him CPR as state by some of my FB friends.
Nigerians have lost empathy and that’s why we can see an accident victim on the road and pass by as if nothing happened. To those who called to hail my action I appreciate, but for those who never saw it as worthy, may you never found yourself in such circumstances where people who are supposed to assist sees your helpless action as stage managed. I believe we can set a standard for the whole world to see when we change our way of thinking. To God be the glory.
